As a kid, I ate a lot of junk food….hotdogs, frozen pizza, ding dongs, and a lot of white bread. I wasn’t a picky eater. I just ate what my mom served me. I didn’t learn about whole grains until junior high when a friend’s mom offered me a slice of whole wheat brown bread with sunflower seeds that she baked herself. She served it with real butter instead of margarine. It was delicious! I never knew that bread could have flavor! I fell in love with whole wheat that day.
I’ve come a long way since that first bite of whole wheat bread. I love to bake. I now grind my own wheat when baking breads, muffins, cookies, and desserts. I roll my own oats when making oatmeal. And I’ve branched out to other whole grains like brown rice, corn, amaranth, buckwheat, and quinoa.
This website is about eating whole grains. I love 100% whole grain foods and this website is mostly about that. Come join me in the wonderful world of whole grains.
Thanks!
Betty
